Non-profit cultural organization with a nationwide impact. Since 1971, they have been on a mission to encourage and promote enthusiasm Quebec and French-Canadian literature aimed at young people from 0 to 17 years old.
The Managing Director was looking at leaving the organization for early retirement at the end of her second term. The organization was undergoing major changes in terms of its service offering, its sources of funding and the growing digitalization of its activities. We were looking for a profile with a background in culture, with both an operational and strategic experience who was also very familiar with the world of children and young adult’s literature. In addition, we had to work with a very limited salary envelope.

Since 1985, the Fédération Québécoise des Clubs Quads (FQCQ) spans the union of 112 different off-road vehicle clubs across the province, thus representing more than 46,000 members united by the same organization.
The Managing Director and founder of the association is set to retire very shortly. The Board decided to plan for his succession early and to hire an associate General Manager to take care of the operations side of the organization. He will gradually be trained by the current Managing Director on government and public relations.
We were looking for an experienced General Manager with a modern philosophy regarding leadership and team management in an environment where they had developed the skills of permanent employees. We were also looking for experience in lobbying with different levels of government institutions. The candidate had to come from an NPO.

Following the departure of the Managing Director, an employee was promoted to the General Manager position by the Board but ended up not being up to the challenge. We were therefore mandated to find an experience Managing Director to rectify the situation. The new Managing Director had to act on three axes, and in the context of COVID-19 : Management of the crisis and its impacts on members (vulnerable population) and on its sources of funding (cancellation of fundraising), increase of the operation budget and straighten out the organization’s management.
